The Silkwerks dojo opened in 2002. This photos was taken before the dojo was ready; Practicing in the winter with no heat, we threw down a temporary mat, hung the shomen on a ladder and bowed in!
This photo is from one of first seminars at the Silkwerks dojo. (Notice the dojo still has the building’s original wood frame windows.) Sempai JD Lepeta taking ukemi from Sensei Miller.
Outdoor weapons class in Mt Airy Maryland at the park across the street from the dojo. Mt Airy dojo was known (affectionately) as the “angry shoe box” dojo — it was the size of a shoe box and was frequently packed with high-energy practice.
